Upgrade Points Empty
PostSubject: Upgrade Points   Upgrade Points EmptyThu Dec 01, 2011 8:37 pm

Upgrade Points (UP), Mission Points (MP) and Notoriety Points (NP)can be considered the 'currency' for this site. It's not in fact a method of trade, but more of a way to realize one's achievements, and to make certain things a bit more fair and static. It also defines the criteria needed to gain certain things. It's basically a measure of experience. It would make more sense if someone with more experience (Upgrade Points) gained more techniques and higher ranks than those that simply train constantly and don't gain any actual fighting experience. This gives those who RP with others a larger benefit than those who prefer RPing alone. After all, RPing alone is just normal writing. The costs for things requiring Upgrade Points have been posted in separate forums, but this area thread is designed to clarify how one actually gains these points. There are 3 possible ways: Mission Points, Notoriety Points, and Officially Unrecorded topics.

Mission Points are quite simple to get. You get a certain amount based on how good your mission was and what rank the mission was itself. The lower level a rank, the more difficult it'll be to gain Mission Points. This same situation can be reflected on everything else in life, but this isn't a life-lesson. 10 MP = 1 UP + (+x) Reputation Points, where x is any number the moderator decides is fit for the mission.

Notoriety Points are the Mission Points of Nukenin (Missing Ninja). Notoriety Points are gained a bit differently. Instead of completing missions, the Nukenin must wreck havoc on people and villages. Depending on how much havoc was raised determines the amount of points gained. Usually D-rank felonies are about 1 point, C-rank is about 2-3, B-rank is about 4-5, A rank about 6-8, and S-rank are reserved for site-wide events. As you can see, fewer Notoriety Points are gained compared to Mission Points, but this is mainly because every Nukenin Topic is considered a Death-Match, considering they are outlaws. 4 NP = 1 UP + (-4) Reputation Points. Nukenin can also do Missions, but not as many are available unless they work for some sort of organization.

Unrecorded Topics are topics that are not missions, but involve more than just your character, and accomplish some sort of task. They are usually Missions or long-term traveling topics where the Kage didn't order you to do anything. But, because time is a constant, it would make no sense if time stopped for your character to travel hundreds of miles to sight-see and come back. To gain Mission Points/Notoriety Points via Unrecorded Topics, one must apply for the upgrade like everything else on the site. (Note: You gain Mission Points/Notoriety Points, not Upgrade Points. Also, you gain no Reputation Points for Unrecorded Topics.)

There is also one last way to earn Upgrade Points, and that's by capturing and/or killing a Nukenin. You usually get a substantial amount of MP for this, and a very hefty reputation sum, but because it requires slaying a member of the site, it's not the easiest thing to do. Also, note that the higher level the Nukenin, the more points are gained. Nukenin can do the same time, except when they kill well-known village ninja. Usually 1/4 of the reputation that ninja had is deducted from the Nukenin's Reputation (Nukenin reputation is usually in the negative). Also, the higher the rank of the village ninja, the more Notoriety Points that are gained. Therefore both Nukenin and Village-Nin can gain a hefty amount of Upgrade Points for defeating one another. Note: Higher bounties are sometimes fetched for successfully capturing a target rather than killing them. This is especially true for Captured Nukenin, but unless there's a bounty on a Village-Nin's head, Nukenin don't have this benefit. If you choose not to kill the target, the gained reputation is much lower though, but the Upgrade Point a bit higher.
