__________________ Upgrades are what make your character grow stronger. In order to alter your character at all, you must go through this upgrading process. This means if you want to add a weapon or jutsu for instance, you must also got through this process. There will be three different forms of upgrades: Dynamic Upgrades, Static Upgrades, and Advancement Upgrades. Dynamic UpgradesDynamic upgrades are things like jutsu, weapons and summons; which are not attached to the player physically, and can be altered or removed entirely. Thus the reason they are called Dynamic Upgrades. These upgrades require a certain number of words in a training topic to attain, and the approval of a Moderator. Depending on the rank of the jutsu, depends on how many words minimum is require to learn the technique. Remember, the word count includes how much is actually being trained; not how many words the entire post has. If you have a 1000 word training topic with only 200 words of training and 800 words of misc. for an A rank jutsu; you will be asked to expand/redo your post in order to comply with the standards. Note: You can train more than one jutsu per topic. The following are a list of all word requirements for training jutsu, weapons and summons based on rank: D-Rank/Genin - Spoiler:

Alternatively you may pay Upgrade Points instead of doing training. D ranks require 1 UP, C rank requires 2 UP, B rank requires 3 UP, A rank 4 UP, S rank 6 UP. Summons cost twice as much. Static UpgradesStatic upgrades are upgrades which are permanent and cannot be altered upon gaining. Such things as Sharingan training, Hachimon (eight gates) training, or even Bijuu Training. They give permanent boosts, but do not physically effect the target (Except for things like Cursed Seal Training and Sharingan Training which affects the body and eyes respectively). You may gain a new special characteristic or a character asset and deficiency. Each one costs a 3,000 word training topic and/or 10 Upgrade Points per upgrade. You must link to a post in which your character had an epiphany of gaining this skill. If it is something that can be trained, like a large chakra pool, then the 10,000 words are necessary along with the 10 UP. If not trainable, still requires 10 UP.
Transplants & Implants: - Spoiler:
Transplants such as eye transplants and Implants such as chakra increases; or a combination of the two like a robotic arm, all require a 4,000 word surgery topic and 15 Upgrade Points (Both you and the medical ninja operating contribute to the final word count). The surgery topic must be conducted with a Jounin-level ninja with Medical Ninjutsu as a Major Specialty at the very least. If surgery is inadequate when reviewed by a mod, then you will fail the surgery and not gain your implant or transplant. If you chose to give up a portion of your body, for instance the eye for an eye surgery, you will lose this portion of your body permanently.
Chakra Implants: - Spoiler:
Chakra implants are on the same category as normal Implants in that they require the surgery, but at a much smaller price. To get a chakra implant you must have a Medical Ninja and 10 UP. The two of you must perform a 2000 word surgery unless it's your third implant, in which case it costs 4000 words.
Specialty Training: - Spoiler:
Whenever you go up a rank, you are given the opportunity to learn new specialties or upgrade already existing ones. For instance, when you move from Genin to Chuunin, you can either learn another minor specialty or upgrade your major specialty into an absolute specialty. In order to do this, you must write out a 1,000 word training topic in how you got this upgrade/new specialty. If you wish to add a minor specialty without a rank level up, it costs 5,000 words and 5 UP. Note: You may choose to upgrade a Minor Specialty into a Major or Major into Absolute instead of purchasing another Minor specialty.
Element Training: - Spoiler:
When you reach certain milestones such as Jounin and Sennin/Kage; you will be able to learn another Element. In order to learn this element though you must actually train for it; because even though you may be the rank, it does not magically occur. Elemental Training via the cause of Rank-up costs 5,000 words in training. If you choose to get another Element (not through rank-up), a Kekkei Touta, or a second Kekkei Genkai; you must make an 8,000 word training topic and tribute 5 UP. Note: To get a Kekkei Touta or Second Kekkei Genkai it requires you to have 3 elements. Also note that if you get an element through this manner as a Jounin for example; you already have 3 elements and therefore to get a fourth, it would require another 8,000 word training and 5 UP advancement. This method rewards patience.

Advancement UpgradeAdvancement Upgrades cover only two different upgrades on this Forum. Unlike Static Upgrades which require both word post and Upgrade Points; or Dynamic Upgrades which require either UP or word posts; these require only Upgrade Points. The two Upgrades that fall under this category are Aging and Rank-Acceleration. AgingUnlike most forum RPs, this site encourages the character to age in order to excel. It also makes the forum more realistic. It would be unfair if everyone aged at the same time; for then people would be allowed to make a character and not RP with them for a few months until he/she was old enough to change ranks; so in order to Age you must sacrifice a certain number of Upgrade Points. Age is also required to reach certain ranks. This is to help avoid having thirteen year old's walking around with Jounin outfits. To age it requires 10 UP(5 for those below the age of 15) to go up one year. Note: This may cause a couple problems. For instance: a Jounin-sensei of a Genin decides to not RP for a month. The Genin goes through various missions and upgrades and is eventually OLDER than their sensei. These problems are understandable, but at that point the Genin shouldn't really be a Genin anymore, and the time it would take to get to an even age as your mentor will take more than enough time. Rank AccelerationIn order to accelerate in rank, there are specific guidelines and protocols one must reach in order to advance to their next rank. Special ranks such as ANBU are treated differently and will be explained later. There are three things required to rank up. 1.) The minimum age. 2.) The necessary Upgrade Points. 3.) Fulfilling the necessary assignments for the rank. Below is a list of the minimums for ranking up. - Spoiler:
Genin --> ChuuninAge: 13 Assignments: - Jounin recommendation.
- Completing the Chuunin Exams.
UP: 5 Chuunin --> Spec. JouninAge: 15 Assignments: - At least 6 C rank missions completed.
- At least 1 B rank mission completed.
- Recommendation from a higher rank.
UP: 10 Chuunin --> Spec. ANBUAge: 15 Assignments: - At least 3 B rank missions completed.
- Must have accomplished a difficult task; ie. killing a Nukenin or pulling off some great task for a Chuunin. Thus requires recommednation.
UP: 10 Spec. Jounin --> Spec. ANBUAge: 16 Assignments: - At least 5 B rank missions completed.
- Recommendation from higher rank.
UP: 5 Spec. Jounin/Spec. ANBU --> JouninAge: 18 Assignments: - At least 3 A rank missions and 5 B rank missions completed (Not including missions completed in a prior rank); OR win a special event (S-rank Mission).
- Recommendation from Kage.
UP: 15 Spec. ANBU --> ANBUAge: 18 Assignments: - At least 3 A rank Missions and the defeat of 1 Missing Nin; OR win a special event (S-rank Mission).
- Recommendation from an ANBU op.
